As a part of Portland's cannabis community, we are frustrated that significant portions of the cannabis sales tax have gone to the Portland Police Bureau, instead of serving the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) communities most harmed by the war on drugs. The mayor has pledged to direct those funds back to the BIPOC community, and we must all hold him accountable. We stand against hate, indifference, and the institutional racism that has led to continued disparity and inequality. For the next two months, all proceeds from our online sales will go to The Black Resilience Fund. While this is something we can do immediately, we are planning a long-term engagement in the fight for cannabis social justice. It's time for us all to be held accountable.
